Project Development- Home Shooting in Covid and a Creative Block
The past few weeks have been difficult for me as I’ve felt demotivated and had a creative block and didn’t know where I was going with my project and the work I was making. After a bit of research and talking to tutors, I had more of a direction with what my work was about. I think it’s important to talk to someone when you’re feeling stuck as they can guide you on how to overcome it. I decided to “just keep shooting”, which is how I stay so resilient. Like most of us, having to work from home has meant working with what we have available.
My project entitled “Long Hair, Don’t Care” explores the female body as a rejection of the gaze using domestic objects and performative self-portraiture.
Here are some test shoots I have done exploring this idea:
Going forward, I will experiment with colour, different backdrops and domestic objects. When university facilities are allowed back open, I will try doing these in a studio setup.
